The present edition by the Portuguese Screen Printing Center of a work by Cruzeiro Seixas, corresponds to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the artist, painter, poet, dean of Portuguese art and one of the European exponents of international surrealism.
In the work of Cruzeiro Seixas we are dazzled by the spectacle of a world in eternal metamorphosis, which is not a reality. a mirror of the known reality, but its inside unknown, with the movement of a symbiosis between all the kingdoms and their creatures, where nothing ever seems to have a definitive form. World subject to devouring time with strange and composite figures between the animate and the inanimate, in a confusion of kingdoms, animal, human, mineral, aquatic, characters ambiguously in conflict or in harmonious fusion, studying the laws of game and chance, denying them.
The current screen printing takes up this disturbing dreamlike universe, half solar, half lunar, half aquatic, with a luminous transparency, which corresponds to an atmosphere of suspension and threat, of suffering and aggression It is very characteristic of our time. The sun reigning over the night, in an announced fusion, regime of Eros, of an alchemical union that allows us to glimpse clarity, the light of the contents of a rationality returned to the sources of the imagination , to an infinity that the artist's creation brings close.
Iridescent and colorful clarity, against which the figures of a loving expectation, of a secret, are cut out, under the sign of writing and poetry that inspires the title, and where, as in Rimbaud's famous poem, the real sea is; This warm and fresh horizon of dreams, which the artist gave shape to throughout his life, is his timeless legacy.
