The Dance of Colors and Shapes

The new realisms defended and disseminated by the French critic Pierre Restany marked in the 60s, together with Pop and the new figurations, the return to the real, a fundamental trend in that period that accompanies the informalisms coming from the previous decade and theorized by Umberto Eco and the emergence of tumultuous writing-painting, which left its mark on abstraction. The field of painting is remade with the image of a reality progressively invaded by the great mythologies of everyday life, represented here by Yvan Messac (b. 1948) exponent of International Narrative Figuration and the youngest of this group that gave birth to discovered in 1977 at the Daily Mythologies Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.

Both editions are dedicated to dance, representing a nocturnal atmosphere where the arabesques of lines evolve in an imaginary spectacle in which the true characters and protagonists are the color, vibrant and contrasted, the suggested and audacious movement and the form that results from a complicit look at reality.
