FIRST STEPS

Oksana Zahryvawho was born in Ukraine in 1994, currently lives and works in Lisbon and has been exhibiting since 2022. Having attended The National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, the capital of her country ;s, graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. His work is characterized by the diversity of languages such as drawing, painting, engraving, photography and interdisciplinary installation.

Following the CPS Young Art award in 2020 and the Artistic Residency there, resulting created the engraving “First steps”, that he presents to us today. This work reveals the attitude of introspection and reflection that characterizes her, and has as its starting point the Russian occupation of Ukraine. In his works he takes us back to freedom of choice and the need for self-determination in a social and political context, which he is aware of. Plastic metaphor is the silhouette outlined in the solitary path that opens up in the tangle of trees, image of the labyrinth.
