Graça Pereira Coutinho

Born in Lisbon, in 1949, where he took a sculpture course at ESBAL. In 1971 he went to study in London with the intention of doing a postgraduate degree at ST. Martins School of Art - still lives today in the same city. In 1974 she received a scholarship from ILEA, London and between 1975 and 1977 she received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon. Of the numerous institutions in which he held exhibitions, the most notable are the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon), Serralves Foundation (Porto), Caixa Geral de Depósitos ( Lisbon), Osaka Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan), MAC (Badajoz), National Historical Museum (Rio de Janeiro), British Center (São Paulo), Ecco Cultural Center (Brasília ). He exhibits frequently in Portugal and abroad: Todd Gallery, London; Galeria Graça Fonseca, Lisbon; Galeria Cristina Guerra, Lisbon; Porta 33 Gallery, Funchal; Galeria João Esteves de Oliveira, Lisbon, among others. His work can be found in several private collections and in the collections of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Fundação António Prates, Fundação PLMJ, Museu de Arte Contemporâ in Belém, Brazil, Museum of Contemporary Art Osaka, Japan, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon, among others. We also highlight the Prize received by the artist at the Osaka Triennale, Japan in 1991.
