Silva Palmeira

Born in Santarém in 1934, he began his artistic activity as a painter in 1948 in the area of ceramics, when he studied drawing and painting with Ramos Ribeiro.

He held his first exhibition in Goa. In 1977, he created the first cards for tapestry and formed, together with two other artists, the group G.I.P. In 1997 he received, in Paris, the Silver Medal Mérite et Dévouemant Français and the following year he received the Bronze Medal Arts-Sciences-Lettres, awarded in the same city.

It is represented in national and international collections, namely in the Civil Governments of Évora and Santarém; Nazaréé;s Municipal Tourism Commission; Angra do Heroismo Museum; Galeria Sesimbra at the Hotel Ritz, Lisbon; Montecatini Art Academy, Italy; Galeria Portimão, Algarve; Sculptor Martins Correia Municipal Museum, Golegã; Armindo Teixeira Lopes Municipal Museum, Mirandela; Gan Insurance Company, Lisbon; Madeira Regional Press, Funchal; Caixa Geral de Depósitos Museum of Modern Art, Lisbon; Herouet Gallery, Paris; Montepio Geral Collection.
