We interviewed the artist Sofia Areal in the context of the creation of new silkscreens, whose singular intervention made all affirmatively unique specimens.

What importance do you attribute to graphic work and the multiple in the context of your work?

The multiple is part of the history of art. The engravings, the prints, the illustrations in the books. In screen printing, in my particular case, it is a proposal with “tools” own.

The editions until the end of the year. carried out today at the CPS express its particular positive energy. What does SIM represent in this edition?

The SIM was the title of my first anthological exhibition in 2011 at Cordoaria Nacional in Lisbon. The SIM will, in this case, be the public and real affirmation of the countless possibilities that affirm that fighting for something we like, defending what we want and that we respect, is worth it. It's worth being in life even if you know it has an end.

First the screen printing, cutting and gluing. Then your creative intervention in each test. Why? the numbering followed by Rehausse 1/1?

In view of previous silkscreen editions, even the ones in which I intervened on each copy, I consider this edition a novelty and innovation in my journey. Combines several  techniques and, in the rehausse intervention, instead of following a model, I dedicated very particular attention to each copy and all the energy of an original, which justifies the 1/1.

What would you like to convey to young collectors and lovers of your work?

In words, now Since the work also speaks for itself, I would like you to know that when doing work like this, I always do it taking into account and in mind the existence of an audience that wants to see, that wants to see more, who wants stimulation and assertiveness in his life. Just like I want them in mine. É That's how my life is. This is my job.

Considering culture as a manifestation of greatness, how does coexistence Does direct interaction with art contribute to the improvement of contemporary society?

A work of art is a target. I think very sincerely that culture is Synonymous with loyalty. É a target to hit. The work of art is an example of this. And it is because it does  It is high for cultivated people, but also for people sensitive to culture. beauty, &agrav; music, to music literature and the arts. The work of art enhances the banality of life.
