A VOCABULARY OF PLASTIC SIGNS
Belonging to the new generation of Angolan artists, Januário Jano is native of Angola where he was born in 1979. The artist who lived and worked for 16 years in London and recently exhibited in Paris, has been basing his work on ethnographic research into the autochthonous cultures of the region of Its origins and its country, which translates into plastic signs of great iconic power, highlighted by geometry and the vibration of smooth and contrasting colors. The fragmentation of the composition refers to the title and theme of his first solo exhibition, which the artist explains: “It has a lot to do with memories. These are fragmented memories. Moving on to another phase of life is a great opportunity. almost an exercise in identity.”
Exercises also on the visible with the small suns and the magical moons and the fires of the gaze that rests on the forms and illuminates them.
