Januário Jano

Januário Jano (1979, Luanda), also known as JanoMcbeeboo, from a very early age, developed the habit of exploring various ways of creating images – painting street murals, collecting and cutting up newspapers and magazines to create "scrapbooks".  He has been exploring different forms and types of printing, using everything at his disposal. He completed a postgraduate degree, approved with distinction BA (Hons), in Design Studies, at the former Guilhall University (currently London Metropolitan University), in 2005. He maintains a particular interest in this ;ethics and culture inserted in the social context, which makes it focus on research and work on the topic.

 

É a recognized artist with an international career. Of the exhibitions in which he participated, we highlight the most recent: 2015 -  “UNORTHODOX”, Jewish Museum in New York; “POP ORGY”, Seeds of Memory Project, Milan; “THE OTHER ART FAIR”, London; “THE SUBSTANCE OF ABSTRACTION, Galeria Agora, New York; 2014 - “AFRICA NOW BY DESIGN INSABA”, Cape Town, South Africa; “PRIVATE SPACE”, Galeria Geraldes da Silva, Porto, Portugal.

 

His CV also includes prominent projects such as: 2013 – “Moving Africa”, Project sponsored by the Goethe Institut for Doual´art – Doualá – Cameroon; 2014 – Project “Ilha de S. Jorge” (Curator: Paula de Nascimento) – Luanda/Milan/Lisbon/London/Porto;  2015 – Mural at LxFactory, organized by WoolFest for the “Street Art” from Google  – Lisbon – Portugal; 2015 – Selection for the 3rd Edition of the Luanda Triennale – Organized  by the Sindika Dokolo Foundation – Luanda – Angola.
