CELEBRATION OF POP CULTURE
João Galrão (b.1975) who lives and works in Lisbon and has exhibited since 1996 in Portugal, France and Spain, has recently been developing a Pop language in his painting and psychedelic which is revealed precisely in his screen printing works. Pop culture and art, its famous paintings, such as that of Richard Hamilton (1922-2011), its icons, Elvis Presley or James Dean, coexist with other contemporary aesthetic references, such as the ready-made by Marcel Duchamp, in a kaleidoscopic universe of quotes and give soul to a sinuous game of phosphorescent lines, frames and sets of appealing and disconcerting signs, drawing attention to the true ambivalence of life, eroticism and death.
