Lydia Reinhold

Lydia Reinhold was born in Belgium. He settled in Portugal in 1976, but lived for long periods abroad. He graduated in Roman Philology from the University of Brussels, attended several art institutions in Brussels, as well as the Ottawa School of Art and ARCO in Lisbon where he also studied engraving.

Between 1994 and 2003 he collaborated with several Portuguese museums and institutions such as the Museum of Ancient Art, Museu do Azulejo, Museu do Chiado, Museu do Traje, Museu de Conímbriga, Museu Soares dos Reis, as well as the CCB (Centro Cultural de Belém) and the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum with works on silk inspired by the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions of these institutions. She was also invited to present a collection of a hundred works for the Portuguese Pavilion at the Lisbon Universal Exhibition (EXPO 98).

The most recent exhibitions in which he participated include, in 2010, a solo exhibition at Sweet Lorraine Gallery, Brooklyn, NY. In 2011 - collective PLAY, at the Textile Art Center, Brooklyn, NY. The year he also participated in the Portuguese Brazilian Festival Art Exhibition in Manhattan. And in 2012 - collective Women: Perpctives Realizing, One Gallery, Newark, NJ.
