ROOTS OF THE SOUL

The sculptor Vítor Ribeiro who was born in Porto in 1957 and lives and works in Mafra, has established himself as one of the most interesting names of his generation. With participation in international meetings, his work, which he began exhibiting individually in 1985, is now being exhibited extensively. represented in several national and foreign museums. Nature, its organic and naturally plastic forms, has always had particular importance in his work where the tree has been highlighted since 2011, as a central motif in several exhibitions. É The tree today is also the protagonist of the two superb engravings that we present and where they highlight, against the dark background, the power and mastery of line and form in the nuances of black that white opens into luminous clearings. In its branches, small hanging gardens seem to flourish, uniting the earth and the sky, a perfect image of the tree of life.
