REALITY AS A SECRET
Rogério Ribeiro(Estremoz 1930-Lisbon, 2008), a renowned painter, engraver and versatile artist, created works for ceramics and tapestry and also became famous as an illustrator lending their images to renowned names such as Joséé Saramago, Fernando Namora or Urbano Tavares Rodrigues, among others. The image now edited refers to the essence of art, which is seen as an unveiling of the real, considered as a mere and illusory appearance. From the kind of blue screen, or inverted Pandora's Box we see the release not of the evils of the world, but fragments of indecipherable creatures, fantastic hauntings, true figures of secret, encrypted images of the reality that hides to better reveal its nature, on an alchemical background of gold.
