Born in Estremoz in 1930. He completed his academic training in painting at ESBAL. É founding partner of Gravura where he developed intense activity.

In 1961 he began teaching Painting and Technology at the António Arroio School of Decorative Arts (Lisbon). From 1964 onwards he carried out work in the field of Equipment and Graphic Design and collaborated with several architects. Since 1988, he has directed the Municipal Art Gallery of Almada and is the head of the Municipal Art Gallery. director of Casa da Cerca since 1993.

Exhibits collectively since 1950 and individually since 1954. represented in several private collections, from private institutions and museums. In 2006, the Municipality of Estremoz awarded him the “Gold Medal of the City of Estremoz”. 

He passed away on March 10, 2008, in Lisbon
