Created under the parnership with Kurdish Film & Arts Festival 2018

Carlos Farinha (b. 1971), graduated in Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, is part of a generation of young artists motivated by social and political issues, but for whom the priority remains a constant search and plastic questioning. His image for the present screen print that was the poster for the Kurdish Arts and Cinema Festival (Cinema S. Jorge, March 2018), reflects these concerns. Introduce yourself there. an alternative to incommunicability that underlies the discontent of urban everyday life, constantly threatened by loneliness and despair along the lines of an existentialist thought with an apparently dead end, with the abyss and annihilation as the only horizon. The music symbolized by the Kurdish instrument “Saz” and the megaphone capable of spreading not only sound, but color, break the darkness of contemporary loneliness and disenchantment in the powerful appeal to a joy and hope that are the true destiny of our civilization ;ão. An updated and de-dramatized version of the famous painting “The Scream” (1893) by Munch.
