Paulo Cardoso

Paulo Cardoso was born in Lisbon on September 7, 1953, coming from a family of musicians and visual artists. After finishing his Chemistry course, he simultaneously attended the National Conservatory and the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes de Lisboa. In 1977 he developed his interest in Astrology and from 1978 he collaborated in several Music, Theater and Cinema shows, as a set designer and painter. Throughout his career, he published 49 books and presented around 30 solo exhibitions, and around 40 group exhibitions.

From 1978 onwards, the roles he also dedicated himself to were leafed through in the theaters: as a set designer and as a painter, he collaborated in several productions theater, music and cinema, visiting Lisbon venues such as the São Luís Theatre, the Salão Nobre of the National Conservatory, the Grand Auditorium of the Centro Cultural de Belém, and the amphitheaters natives of the Capuchos Festival. Alongside his growing commitment to Astrology, Paulo Cardoso was transferring the symbolic language of the stars to drawing and engraving.

He has exhibited individually since 1987, his work was presented at Galeria Off Züri, in Zurich, and, at Espaço Poligrupo Renascença, he presented, in Lisbon, the exhibition The Earth seen from Sétimo Céu. In the same year, he also participated in collective presentations at Galeria Espiral, in Oeiras, and at Galeria R75, in Montechoro, at the Casino Art Gallery, in Estoril, in Galeria Sfumato, in Figueira da Foz and, already, In 1988, he exhibited at Galeria EG, in Porto, before returning to Portugal. capital to participate in the Pessoa exhibition in Lisbon, at Teatro São Carlos.

In 1990, it was the turn of another of the revolutionaries of Orpheu's generation (Mário de Sá-Carneiro) to serve as a guide in the making of Paulo Cardoso's mystical-plastic works , exhibited at Galeria de S. Mamede, in Lisbon.
