After long months of work at the CPS Atelier, Jorge Barrote presents us with new works. During this period, the artist explored different engraving and lithography techniques, demonstrating his excellence in drawing and the richness of his symbolic domain.

The new creations were presented at the CPS Gallery in the CCB, in the exhibition “Tempus Arbóreo”, which also included large-scale unpublished drawings, and ran from July 10 to 25.
Since 2015, Jorge Barrote has been exploring a fantastical and narrative figuration, delivering us a universe of surrealist inspiration, where occultism and alchemy are present, and transfiguration and metamorphosis are central themes. According to art critic Maria João Fernandes, an example of this is the lithograph “As Palavras” which gives us “a poetic representation of the symbiosis of the human and the vegetal that feeds the inexhaustible flow of words and images confused in the same cosmic impulse.”
“As Palavras”, Lithograph, 35 copies
