«The Time of Images II» Recent editions of CPS at the National Library of Portugal

With the title "The Time of Images II" (O Tempo das Imagens II), will be inaugurated at the National Library of Portugal (BNP), on February 22, at 6:30 pm, an exhibition of graphic works from recent editions of the Centro Português de Serigrafia (CPS) that results from the protocol between these two institutions, through which BNP receives a copy of each edition published by CPS. The show features a selection of works, now put into dialogue, that can be seen until May 19.

The exhibited works are relevant not only for the techniques - silkscreen, engraving, lithography, photography or digital printing - highlighting the role of graphic work as an expression of the contemporary world, but also for reflecting some emblematic languages of contemporary art, framed in the great strands of an anthropology of the imaginary.

The exhibition presents a set of editions, exemplifying the creative potential of Atelier CPS and includes works by young and renowned Portuguese artists, with emphasis on Artur Cruzeiro Seixas, António Carmo, Cristina Ataíde, Dorindo Carvalho, Eurico Gonçalves, Graça Pereira Coutinho, Humberto Marçal , José de Guimarães, Luís Lemos, Maria José Oliveira, Maria Pia, Rico Sequeira and Vítor Ribeiro, in addition to a center dedicated to the city of Lisbon. It also includes Angolan artist Januário Jano and Mozambican Fernando Machiana, as well as renowned foreign artists, such as the French Luc Brévart or the Catalan Ramon Sanmiquel.

Curated by João Prates, the exhibition witnesses, once again, the editorial dynamics of Centro Português de Serigrafia, whose works constitute a privileged vehicle for the communication of art with the general public, while, through the protocol established with BNP, its persistence over time is ensured.
