Critical notes
Ana Ventura (b.1972, Lisbon), graduated in painting and specialized in engraving techniques, has lived in Belgium since 2015. The artist, who has been dedicating herself to art painting, &agrav; illustration, to illustration; photography and à collage, has exhibited since 1996 in Portugal and abroad. In 2022 she was awarded the National Illustration Prize awarded to the book Mudar (Ed. Pato Lógico) whose illustrations were the starting point of the present works.
In fact, your view of everyday life is more than the movement and digression through the spaces of the world, which are sometimes chaotic, it represents the plastic expression of a look that connects the intimacy of the interiors and the exterior, with a touch of naivety and tenderness. It is a crossing of time and memory of the painting of the great Masters as it is. the case of the work “Picnic”, inspired by the famous “Déjeuner sur l’Herbe” by Manet (1863). Plastic chords of great chromatic sobriety, the subtle presence of line, characterize in this set a poetic image of everyday life.
