Critical notes
VISIBLE LOVE STORIES Joséé Duarte Martins da Silva (born 1944) chose the pseudonym Vila, perhaps in honor of the Colombian poet Vargas Vila (1860-1933) and the adventurer Pancho Vila, commander of the Mexican Revolution. In the sixties, he assumed his dual artistic and gastronomic vocation with this pseudonym. As an artist, he produced a work collected in a book published in 2010, which highlights his interest in a reflection on writing with possible influences from Tàpies, Álvaro Lapa or António Sena. In the silkscreen presented, on the black of all possibilities, the tears of white open up spaces of pure invention. And the fantasies unfold their thin blue and red veil the color of the sky and a fire that burns without being seen like the one at the heart of these stories of love for the visible and the mysterious who presides over them.
