Critical notes
In the sixties and after the outbreak in the previous decade, of the abstract expressionism of Pollock or Gorky, the geometric abstraction of Vasarely or Reinhardt and the "color field painting" of Rothko, Barnett Newman and Clyfford Still, which aimed to express sensations and emotions with a strong dramatic and mystical content, Pop can be considered a salutary return to music. This is the most evident reality, that disseminated by the media, advertising and comics, a resonance of an equally busy and tumultuous daily life in which the image takes center stage. Precisely what happens in this image by the Icelandic painter Erró (b. 1932), an exponent of international narrative figuration.
