FEMALE SOUL OF THE SEA
The creature of the waters, feminine soul of the sea, nereid, nymph, mermaid, represents one of the most fertile veins of literature and plastic arts. “Maria do Mar”, a watercolor lithograph by Lurdes Leite, evokes this tradition, renewing it and giving it a unique touch. figure that gives the title is composition, a naivety and a purity close to children's tales and a kingdom that is already alive. inspired Andersen and Sophia de Mello Breyner in their timeless “Girl from the Sea”. Carmines and blues coexist harmoniously in subtle transparencies animated by the fluidity of lines.
