"Área de Soltura" is inspired by fragments of texts from the book "Leaves of Relva" by the American poet Walt Whitman. The title of the engraving refers to the bird reserves in Brazil that preserve endangered species, a way of celebrating nature, like Whitman's poetry, which in the artist's opinion, "reveres the existence of all beings."
Technical Note: The central matrix of the engraving, with drawings of birds that come out of a book, was printed in the center of the paper, with some small ones around it. The various other smaller matrices, with drawings of birds in flight, were printed on separate papers and joined to the work in a collage process.
