THE PRAISE OF THE PORTUGUESE GUITAR
Cuban artist residing in Portugal, Raonel has been establishing parallels between our country and his homeland, in this case exploring the proximity between string instruments from the two countries, which he associates with the Portuguese culture. traditional Portuguese guitar that is already popular. inspired the famous French-American painter Arman (1928-2005). In the current engravings created by the artist, the instruments are the pretext for the well-orchestrated play of lines, allowing the subtle chords and resonances of color between navy blues, ochers and browns to be highlighted, a palette that perhaps would not be seen before. Or by chance, it evokes the neighborhood of the ocean, characteristic of Portugal and Cuba.
