Jorge Pé Curto
Born in 1955, in Moura. He has lived in Almada since 1965.
At the age of ten he began attending the Children's Art Center, in Castelo de S. Jorge, mentored by the painter Hermano Baptista. Later he studied sculpture at the António Arroio School as a scholarship holder from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
In 1981, together with other artists, he founded IMARGEM in Almada, a project that he would later abandon. He was also an official education teacher for 17 years.
As a visual artist he developed activities in ceramics, painting, poster design and engraving, but it would be in sculpture, particularly in stone, that he would focus his work. Collectively, Jorge Pé-Curto has participated since 1972 in several exhibitions in galleries, various institutions, commercial spaces and outdoor sculptural exhibitions. Some of his public art: Monument to the Man of the Sea, Feijó, Almada, 2010; Dynamic Construction, Sculpture Symposium, Braga, 2008; Split Figure with Bird, Stone Sculpture Symposium of the Faculty of Technical Sciences - UNL, Monte de Caparica, 2006; Monument to the Fisherman, Costa da Caparica, 1985; Evocation of Fernão Mendes Pinto, in collaboration with Francisco Bronze, Almada, 1984.
He has exhibited individually since 1984, some of these exhibitions: Galeria de S. Bento, Lisbon, 1993; Galeria Vértice, Lisbon, 1996; Galeria S. Francisco, Lisbon, 1998; Galeria Galveias, Lisbon, 2002; Perve Galeria, Lisbon, 2011; Casino Estoril Art Gallery, 2011; Galeria São Francisco, Lisbon, 2012.
