Jan Voss, German artist from the KWY group who for ten years in Paris experienced the great adventure of modern art, created in the 1960s a narrative figuration inspired by rituals of everyday life, closer to a social reality, with history in the background, small dramas seasoned with humor. Voss evolved from schematic and rough graphics on black backgrounds from the 60s, evoking Art Brut and Dubuffet in small squares powerfully expressive for delicate scenes colored by the vivid tones of your palette. Humor is a social aspect seen through the ethics of burlesque fantasy that remakes the image in a surrealist way in unusual and surprising associations. Surrealizing narratives, disturbing series, infractions of crime. order of the visible, games of languages, gestures, objects, signs, a "suspicion of revolt" (1968) that never occurs and is kindly suggested in this image of playful schematism, pieces of a fragmentary contemporary vision, which finds meaning in the game.
