Sara Chan Yan was born in Lisbon, in 1982. She currently works in Lisbon and Pico. É represented by gallery Madragoa. He graduated in Architecture, in 2006, from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, later, in 2010, he attended the Regular Drawing Course at Ar.Co, took the Advanced Course in Fine Arts, also at Ar.Co, in 2013, where he also did a Sound Art Workshop in 2014. In 2015 he studied Fundamentals of Acoustics for musical practice and performance, at FCSH Universidade Nova Lisboa. In 2013, she received a scholarship from Fundação Carmona e Costa, in Lisbon.
He has been exhibiting since 2009, but his first solo exhibition was in 2016, "I Listen to Silence, Speak Whole and with Precision", at Galeria Madragoa, in Lisbon. Along its route, it has exhibitions in galleries and cultural spaces such as FID Foire Internationale du Dessin, Cité Internationale des Arts, in Paris, Culture & Cultures, Château Padiès, Lempaut, at Festival Interferencias, Design Spaces, Lisbon, at Lisbon City Museum, Casa da Musica, Porto, Fundación Botí ;n, Villa Iris, Santander, Open Sessions, The Drawing Center, New York, Atelier BemPostinha, Lisbon, at Cordoaria Nacional, Lisbon, Fundaçacute;nio de Almeida, Évora and at the Colégio das Artes of the University of Coimbra.
She also performed roles in other artistic areas as Coordinator and animator, Artistic Education Center "Pé-de-Vento", Vale Amoreira, Moita Municipal Council (2007 and 2008), Assistant to the plastic artist Rui Moreira, Galerie Jeanne Bucher Jaeger (between 2008 and 2011), and as a Guest Assistant professor, at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon.
In 2015 he was awarded the Visual Arts Prize for Young Creators, from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
