"Machinic Diatoms: 3 irrealities imagines the day when designer molecular constructors will permit unicellular machines, nano machines to co-inhabit and maintain the body. They may enter through our membranes and our pores and be both invited and uninvited guests, which find residence in our cells among the healthful organelles that, are part of the human cellular maintenance and survival ecosystem. Our bodies are already constructed, multicellular bio electrochemical agents with layers of communicating, competing systems both with and without our own DNA. The healthful bacteria that allow digestion of food and bacteria that hold at bay, harmful bacteria are part of complex intertwined ecologies that maintain and struggle to inhabit the interior and exterior of our bodies. The images of the constructed micro machines appear to be neither human nor biological but are rather speculative forms which envision engineered micro bio and machinic agents with properties to help maintain our natural cellular systems."

A VIRTUAL NATURE

The American Ken Rinaldo, creator of interactive multimedia installations that tend to blur the boundaries between the organic and the inorganic, moves in the field of technology. There is an area of intersection between art and biology. over three decades, namely in interactive robotics, biological art, artificial life, inter-species communication and digital imaging.
In this work he gives us back the image of a manipulated nature that seems to blossom into new shapes and colors of a virtual universe of exquisite and rare beauty.
