“Evidence Given” is is the title of the exhibition by the Portuguese Screen Printing Center (CPS) that the Municipal Council of Oeiras presents to the public, from April 6th to June 2nd, 2013, at the Centro Cultural Palá cio do Egipto, located on Rua Álvaro António dos Santos, in Oeiras. Hundreds of works of art - screen prints, engravings, lithographs, photographs - leave the prestigious CPS Atelier every year. Since 1985, the year in which it carried out its first screen printing (Manuel Cargaleiro), the CPS has been proving itself with regard to sharing art, and in this exhibition he reveals the secrets and work behind his editions, presenting around 60 works by dozens of artists. Four new editions are presented at the event: it is the case of the two screen prints intervened by Sofia Areal, the screen print on mirrored PVC by Alexandra Mesquita and the woodcut by Pedro Calapez (images attached).

 

It is worth highlighting the unprecedented nature of one of the facets of this exhibition, which shows the various phases that an artistic screen printing project must go through, as well as the matrices of the engravings and lithographs of the works exposed (metal plates, linoleum and lithographic stones that give rise to the works). Here we find artist's books and art albums in dialogue with poetry and a luxury edition of the Lusíadas composed of 14 screen prints by renowned artists: Pomar, Resende, Cesariny, Bual, Lima de Freitas, Fernando Lanhas, among others.
