Distant Friends

The exhibition Distant Friends by Ana Ventura, Portuguese with a background in painting and engraving and Camilla Engman, Swedish with a background in painting and engraving. in art and design, opens in the gallery of the Centro Português de Seriografia, at CCB, on March 29th, Thursday, at 6:30 pm. Both highly experienced in using the internet to share their work, Ana Ventura and Camilla Engman have been publishing their creations on their websites in their own name and on their blogs as a daily routine. rio, characterized by a certain intimacy established with its audience. With strong interaction and involvement, these communication stages unavoidably enhanced the notoriety of these artists among a vast universe of loyal followers and allowed them to meet. The geographical and cultural distance did not prevent the young artists from bringing their universes together in a common horizon of exemplary fables that surprises and delights us today, in the present exhibition of screen prints on linen. Resulting from this dialogue to the remotely (done by exchanging images and opinions via skype and email), each artist worked based on the graphic elements sent by the other. The result, notably achieved in co-authorship, was then printed on linen at Atelier CPS and some elements selected by the artists were embroidered, giving an additional richness to each work. In addition to these dialogue editions, of reduced circulation, the exhibition also includes recent individual editions by the artists, also published by the CPS.

 

CAMILLA ENGMAN Camilla Engman grew up in the small Swedish town of Trollhättan. It was here that he began to look at life from a perspective that many of us only look at momentarily, and few can remember. Camilla attended the Dome Art School and later the School of Design and Craft, Gothenburg University where she completed her academic training as a Master of Fine Arts. Today, he works and exhibits all over the world. Often centered around animals or people, Camilla's works inspire her audience with a wide spectrum of feelings. His work allows us to understand his position, without however having to cancel each individual's interpretation, regardless of whether it is an acrylic, collage or mixed technique.  

 

ANA VENTURA Multifaceted illustrator and visual artist, Ana Ventura was born in Lisbon, in 1972. In 2000, she completed her degree in Painting at FBAUL with a specialization in Engraving technology. In 1999 he completed an Engraving, Illustration and Painting Internship at the École Supérieure d'Art Visuel La Cambre, Brussels, Belgium. He has exhibited collectively and individually in Portugal and abroad since 1996. The scope of his work includes illustration, photography, the collage of his Papelsonagens, and decorative vinyls. His biggest international project was the personalization of All Star sneakers for Converse's centenary in 2008. He regularly runs plastic expression workshops all over the world. É artist at the Centro Portugus de Seriografia gallery, with whom he has worked regularly since 2006.
