Born in Porto in 1948. In 1960 he joined the Soares dos Reis School of Decorative Arts and in 1966 he had his first solo exhibition at Galeria do Primeiro de Janeiro, in Coimbra.

In 1969 he formed a group with Sá Coutinho and Manuel Porfírio, with whom he develops a series of artistic projects. That same year, he enrolled in the Painting course at the Escola Superior de Belas-Artes do Porto, which he completed in 1978. He later formed the group 4 Novos Artistas. He received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation from 1983 to 1985. He participated in several group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad.

It is represented in several public collections, in Portugal and abroad.
