Patrícia Noronha

Patrícia Noronha da Costa was born in Lisbon, 1965. She graduated in Zootechnical Engineering from the University of Évora, 1991, has a Master's degree in Food Science and Technology from the Technical University of Lisbon, 1995, and obtained a PhD in Biology, from ITQB/ Universidade Nova de Lisboa, 2002.

Published several scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals. From 2001 to 2005, he was chair of Parasitology at the Piaget Institute. He has held several exhibitions of his artistic work resulting from the intersection of art and science.

From 2008 to 2014 he was a resident artist at ITQB, with two consecutive post-doc scholarships, from FCT, in artistic studies, under the theme: Use of microorganisms as an instrument artistic. The work then The resulting project was exhibited in public and private galleries, was published in MIT's Leonardo art/science and technology magazine and several workshops and lectures were held. In 2006, he developed the art&science project “different perspectives on scientific objects”, in a residency at ITQB, with the support of DG-Artes e Ciência Viva.

He completed two post-doctorates in artistic studies in the area of the intersection of art and science. During this period he held several exhibitions, one of which included the presentation, at a conference in Greece, of a time-lapse film and published two articles in the MIT Leonardo magazine.
