Born in 1951 in the city of S. Paulo, Brazil. É degree from the Escola Superior de Artes Visuais de Geneva, Switzerland, and a PhD in Arts from the University of Barcelona, Spain, through the CAPES scholarship, granted by the Brazilian Ministry of Education. In 1982 he received a Fulbright scholarship to undertake postgraduate studies in the field of engraving in the USA - University of New Mexico and California College of Arts and Crafts.
