Born in Arganil in 1928. He studied Sculpture and received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in the Painting Course. He then went to live in Mozambique, where in 1961 he formed the "Grupo dos Independentes" with artists João Ayres, Maluda and Garizo do Carmo. He was a secondary school teacher in Maputo.
In 1972 he collaborated in the creation of the Center for Cultural Studies of Mozambique. In 1975 he participated in the organization of the 1st; and 2ª Popular Art Exhibition. In 1979 he designed the scenography for the play "Leonor Rainha Maravilhomente" by the Companhia Nacional de Maputo.
He held more than 100 Exhibitions in Portugal and abroad (From 1956 to 2011), has several public\private collections in Portugal and abroad, having I win several Awards and Mentions.
Died in 2012.
