Espiga Pinto

Born in Vila Viçosa in 1940. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Sculpture - ESBAL, between 1957 and 1960. Since 1955, the date of his first solo exhibition, he has held around seventy exhibitions Individual activities, including drawing, engraving, painting, sculpture and interventions in urban space. He participated in group exhibitions in Portugal, Spain, France and England. In terms of graphic work, he published various engravings and silkscreens by the Sociedade Cooperativa de Gravadores Portugueses, Kompass Internacional, Cooperativa Árvore, Galeria Triângulo 48, Centro Portugu’ Author. Between 1979 and 1987 he was a Drawing professor at the Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing (IADE) and Academic at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Lisbon. He has won several awards in different areas, among which stands out in 2000, the Coty Award – Coin of the Year, awarded in the USA. There are several sculptures he has in public spaces and his works are present in the collections of several Museums, such as CAM - Centro de Arte Moderna - Fundaçde ;the Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon, Museum of Contemporary Art, Lisbon, Drawing Museum, Estremoz, Museu de Évora, Museu de Arte Contemporânea Diogo Gonâalves, Portimão.

He passed away in 2014 in the city of Porto.
