Duarte Belo

Duarte Belo (Lisbon, 1968) finished his Degree in Architecture in 1991. Parallel to his initial activity in Architecture, he develops projects in Photography. He has been exhibiting individually since 1989, having already participated in numerous solo exhibitions. He is represented in several public and private collections, in Portugal and abroad. He has already developed teaching activities and regularly participates in seminars, congresses and round tables.

 

Of the published work, we could highlight Orlando Ribeiro — Followed by a brief trip to Serra da Estrela (1999); Ruy Belo — Silent Things (2000); O Vento Sobre a Terra — travel notes (2002); On the Surface of Time — Journey to the Amazon (2002); Território em Espera (2005); Geography of Chaos (2005); Templar Lands of Idanha (2006); Olívia and Joaquim – Sweets from Santa Clara in Vila do Conde (2007); Fogo Frio - The Capelinhos Volcano (2008); Book Trains (2009); He designs, produces and photographs the illustrations for the short story O Príncipe-Urso Doce de Laranja (2009); City of the Oldest Name (2010).

 

Of an extensive documental work, centered on the photographic survey of the landscape and the forms of occupation of the territory, the works Portugal — O Sabor da Terra (1997) and Portugal Heritage (2007-2008) are worth highlighting.
This work on Portugal gave rise to a personal photographic archive of more than nine hundred thousand photographs.
