Born in Castelo Branco in 1959, Clara Afonso initiated her General Courses in Fabric Arts and Textile Design at the António Arroio School in Lisbon in 1976. She also completed a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Sciences from the University of Minho and a Degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon.

Her latest exhibition, titled "Marés Vivas", explores elements of nature such as the wind, the sun and the sea, in compositions based on color and its multiple effects, as an example is the serigraphy edited by CPS which has the title "Espumas Douradas".
