The first retrospective of Gracinda Candeias' 45-year career will take place at the Ap'Arte Gallery in Oporto, from September until the end of October 2015, the year in which the painter is the guest artist at the Cerveira Biennial, that celebrates 30 years. SONAE joined these celebrations by supporting this CPS's special edition of the artist. A screen print on canvas entitled "Spring Series".

An indispensable figure in the Portuguese cultural scene, Gracinda Candeias, who was born in 1947 in Luanda and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Oporto, is an artist with multiple interests: painting, performance, scenography, fashion, radio. She is also dedicated to research projects on subjects as different as African rock art or new image technologies. She is the author of several tile panels in public spaces, the most well-known being the Metro Sation of Martim Moniz, in Lisbon.
Throughout her career she has participated in more than 500 exhibitions, namely in cities such as Paris, Lisbon, Brussels, Madrid, Macau, Luanda, Brasília and Beijing. In her career, she has several distinctions, including the Painter of the Year Award, Lisbon (1982) and the Career Award “Mac / 99”, Lisbon (1999). Her work is represented in several museums and private collections, in Portugal and abroad.
Oporto, the city where she graduated, will be the chosen stage for the celebration of her recognized career.
