Gabriel Garcia exhibits in Paris

«Étrange Présence en Moi» (Strange Presence in me) is the title of the exhibition that Gabriel Garcia opened at Joao Gallery & Rhizome, in Paris, on March 5th. The exhibition, curated by Alexandra Silvano, has the support of Galeria António Prates and can be seen until April 4. It is an event that symbolizes an important milestone in the artist's artistic career.

Born in Pico Island, Azores, Gabriel Garcia graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon, but his training also includes photography (Ar.Co. Lisboa), scientific illustration with biologist and illustrator Pedro Salgado (UAL) , etching and video. He has done several editions of Etching, Engraving and Screen Printing, some of which have been distinguished with Awards and Honorable Mentions.

In the words of critic Miguel Matos:

"Gabriel Garcia explores in this series of works the theme of the double personality, explored in a famous way with the gothic novel "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson and originally published in 1886. The painting of Gabriel Garcia is also a painting of dualities, and sometimes of multiple personalities, a painting in becoming, subtle and always in question."
