Critical notes
The Café Martinho da Arcada, one of the most emblematic spaces in the city of Lisbon, inseparable from Fernando Pessoa, celebrated its 240th anniversary in January this year, with a book by Luís Machado that tells its history and with the presentation of a screen print by João Prates in two color variants, in a session chaired by the President of the Lisbon City Council.
The screen prints, also made available to Members, highlight the Praça do Comercio, its arcades and the door of the famous café, a privileged setting for city strolls of the celebrated Poet of unity and diversity, as well as the chromatic spectrum that accompanies him. In turn, the daytime and nighttime atmospheres of noon and midnight, connoting the rational and intuitive aspects, the conscious and the unconscious that preside over Fernando Pessoa's poetic thought.
