Engraving by David de Almeida, one of the masters of contemporary engraving, exhibited in the exhibition entitled “Cadência”, shown in 2011 at the gallery of temporary exhibitions of the Portuguese Screen Printing Center at the Belém Cultural Center. In this set, the artist once again develops the original dialogue, characteristic of his style, with prehistoric inscriptions. A language of plastic signs acquiring a special power of resonance over monochromatic backgrounds. The small white and circular marks, rhythmic, evoke the rhythm of small gestures at the origin of all creation and the incisions that in the Neolithic period were intended for cutting monumental stones. Permeable to the sun, moonlight, and water. rain, to dew, to rain; Modulation of the seasons, they are a palette of the universe. À The exhibition corresponds to the book of the same name currently published, which explores the rhythm of the minimalist language of incisions in stone inspired by the Neolithic period.
