Vitor Alves
Vitor Alves is born in Oeiras. He studied Graphic Arts at Escola António Arroio, and attended the Preparatory Section for Fine Arts.
He has been exhibiting solo since 1985, with his first exhibition taking place that year, at Sala B’Arte, in Lisbon. Since then he has held several solo exhibitions in different locations such as Galeria 6.0.1., in Lisbon, Sala de Arte Templários, Lisbon, Casa Museu dos Patudos, Alpiarça, Galeria dos CTT, Lisbon, Historical Heritage Headquarters, Silves, Centro Social da Damaia, Damaia, Carcavelos Tennis Club, Hotel Penta, Lisbon, Galeria S.Bento34, Lisbon, Sintra Regional Museum, Vendas Novas Municipal Auditorium, Espaço Santa Catarina, Lisbon, Hotel Angra Garden, Angra do Heroísmo, Galeria Lucília Cruz, Lisbon, Centro Cultural do Morgado, Arruda dos Vinhos, Museu Martins Correia, Golegã, Amadora Contemporary Art Center (CMA) and the Montemor-o-Novo Municipal Gallery.
But his first exhibition was in 1976, in Évora, as part of the collective exhibition at the Palácio D.Manuel. Since then, he has been present in many other collective exhibitions in renowned places, with exhibitions such as Obra Social do Ministé Artists and Green Spaces - Cascais, S.N.B.A. Social Hall. - Lisbon, 2ª National Small Format Exhibition. Cooperativa Árvore - Porto, 1ª Bienal do Alentejo - Vendas Novas, Galeria Municipal do Barreiro, Ministry of Finance - Lisbon or na Galeria Artur Bual – Amateur.
Throughout his career he was honored with some awards, in the field of illustration for works such as the cover for the "Electoral laws of Portuguese-speaking countries" - S.T.A.P.E. and for the cover illustration of the book “From Istanbul to Nassíria” by journalist Antônio Rosendo. He was also awarded an honorable mention at the XVI Exhibition Galeria Aberta do Município de Beja, in 2009.
His work is represented in the collections of the Municipal Councils of: Lisbon, Alpiarça, Alcácer do Sal, Golegã, Sintra, Arruda dos Vinhos, Lagos, Amadora and also in General Directorate of Health.
