Domingos Oliveira

Born in Atei, Trás-os-Montes, Domingos Oliveira had his first approach to sculpture, experimenting with clay modelling, in 1979 when he met the artist Óscar Alves.

A year later he had his first exhibition in Santarém, at Espaço da Holanda and since then he has held numerous individual and collective exhibitions, among which the following stand out: 1981, Palácio Galveias, Lisbon; 1983, Espaço EDP, Lisbon; 1988, Sculpture (trophy) for the International Festival "Audiovisual Lisboa 88" promoted by the Portuguese Film Federation; 1993, Padrão dos Descobrimentos, Lisbon; 1993, La Cabala, Madrid; 1997, "Nova Gente Trophy" for Nova Gente magazine; 1997, Estampa 97, Madrid; 2000, Patriarchal, Lisbon; 2000, Amadeu Sousa Cardoso Museum, Amarante; 2000, sculpture "Guitarra na Proa", tribute to fado, Amália and Lisbon, Lisbon.

He is represented in private collections in countries such as Spain, France, England, USA, Brazil and Libya. Due to his curriculum he was proposed to the World Association of Ceramists based in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2011 he released a book with paintings and poetry by him.
