THE ETERNAL FEMININE The dialogue with the poetry of David-Mourão Ferreira was one of the great sources of inspiration for Francisco Simões’s sculpture and also for his drawing and painting and his graphic work. For both poet and sculptor, the celebration of women and love became a central theme of their creation. The artist has been creating an impressive frieze of timeless figures of the eternal feminine, continuing to suggest, in his painting and sculpture, a living, plastic and soulful poetry, the forms of beauty to which his talent returns a secret splendor. The feminine angels in his graphic work, which we present today, are embodiments of this impalpable, almost transcendent beauty, born from the subtlety of the line and the enchanting magic of color.
