Nim Castanheira
Nim, Teresa Castanheira's artistic name, was born in Lisbon in 1959. She has a degree in Musical Sciences from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and is a graduate of the University of Lisbon. Professor of History of Music and History of Culture and Arts at the School of Music of the National Conservatory.
He collaborated in several media outlets – Antena 2, TSF and SIC –, with particular emphasis on the weekly Expresso, as a music critic from 1998 to 2006.
In the area of plastic expression, he consolidated his artistic career at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon where he attended Painting, Drawing and Art History courses. Since 1999, he has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions, both in Portugal (Galerias Diferença, Novo Século and São Mamede; Bienais do Douro, Coruche and Montijo) and abroad ( Barcelona, Paris and Macau). He belongs to the collective of artists at Cooperativa / Galeria Diferença which celebrated 40 years of existence in 2019.
Dedicated to dissemination of music and painting by holding courses in the most diverse institutions and companies such as the National Culture Center, El Corte Inglés, National Museum of Ancient Art, Museum Paula Rego, Fundação Júlio Resende, Banco de Portugal and Municipal Chambers of Cascais, Oeiras, Vila Franca de Xira and Alpiarça.
He published the books History of Music, an Introduction in a partnership with El Corte Inglés and Arranha-Céus Editora (2012) and Cores & Sounds, a Dialogue between Painting and Music of the 20th century. XX by Livros Horizonte (2015).Prepares a second volume that crosses this theme of music with painting.
Nim Castanheira already has a degree. a set of fifteen engravings published by the Portuguese Screen Printing Center (2013, 2015 and 2017).
