Born in Lisbon in 1922. Architect by the Lisbon School of Fine Arts in 1949.
From that time on, he worked for many years in a public organization linked to the Brazilian government. social housing. Developed with Luís Cabral, from the POLIS Program at Covilhã. As an author or co-author he obtained several awards and honorable mentions, among others, the Valmor Prizes of 1968, 71 and 75, AICA Prize 1985, Lisbon Municipal Prize Eugénio dos Santos 1995, with an honorable mention in 1997 or the Architecture Prize in 2007 from the National Academy of Fine Arts. In 2003 he received a doctorate “honoris causa” from the University of Porto and in 2005 from the Technical University of Lisbon.
