Homage Series to Carlos Paredes

Sara Maia (Lisbon, 1974), completed her training at ARCO in Lisbon. He has been exhibiting regularly since 1992 and is an international artist. currently represented exclusively by the Parisian gallery Patrice Trigano. His talent and creativity were established from a very early age, constituting one of the most promising careers of his generation. The very narrative aspect and a caustic and subtly ironic look at the small and large dramas of our society remained the most emblematic aspect of his style that combats traditional morality by demystifying all its false values and standards ;es of behavior. Close to the imagination of an artist with the international acclaim of Paula Rego, Sara Maia has been successfully following her own path where she is able to create a world of beauty. The violence of certain images combines the grotesque and the fantastic of a dispassionate gaze, creating images of a contemporary theater of cruelty. These same characteristics are present in this “disguised” in a universe of modern children's fables for adults. In a very busy scenario of an imaginary stage, the figures between the human and the animal communicate to us an atmosphere of suspended fear and threat that seems imminent. < /span>
