The Time of Images III - 35 years of the Portuguese Screen Printing Center

The CPS - Portuguese Screen Printing Center marks its 35 years of activity with a major exhibition at the National Library of Portugal, The Time of Images III, which could ; It will be visited from September 26th to December 31st. The CPS contributed in a pioneering way to the democratization of art in Portugal. With more than 3,000 editions by around 600 artists from 25 nationalities, it has become a true traveling museum within the reach of the art-loving public and a unique reference in the national artistic panorama.  ;

The Director of the CPS, João Prates, explains the criteria that presided over the CPS. shows: “This commemorative exhibition summarizes the relevance of the protocol, initiated in 2014, which establishes the donation to the population. National Library of Portugal of a copy of each of the editions created by the artists. From the set already donated, 99 works by 77 artists were selected, gathered in different groups across thefive exhibition spaces, in an itinerary that testifies to editorial, generational, eclecticism, aesthetic and technical CPS.” João Prates also highlights the role of graphic work “as an expression of the contemporary world, through the creative practice, by artists, of associated techniques (screen printing, engraving, lithography, photography or digital printing), in a dialogue process with Atelier CPS."

The exhibition brings together well-known names among the Portuguese public, such as José de Guimarães, Júlio Pomar,  Mário Cesariny, Noronha da Costa, Cruzeiro Seixas (with a room dedicated to them), Rui Sanches, Sofia Areal, Cristina Ataíde, Pedro Calapez, among many other artists, in a vast exhibition complemented by a set of photographs from Atelier CPS, by Duarte Belo.

One of the exhibition rooms is the dedicated to CPSMembers, with a selection of works and authors that they have privileged over time and which translates into a wide openness to different aesthetics and trends .
