At the CPS - Portuguese Screen Printing Center you will find On display throughout the month of October, a collective exhibition that gives You will learn about the different expressions and techniques of contemporary engraving. Engraving has notable antecedents in creations by the most prestigious artists of the past and present, from Dürer, Goya and Rembrandt to Matisse, Picasso, Dali, Miró and Tapies, among many others. Also in Portugal, engraving constitutes a fundamental aspect of the artistic expression of our time, representing an essential vehicle of aesthetic dissemination, due to its quality and technical improvement that it has been conquering. The current engraving exhibition represents a choice between renowned names in Portugal and abroad, such as the Spaniards Canogar, Tàpies and Xavier (grandnephew of Picasso) and the internationally recognized Portuguese artists, Bartolomeu Cid and David de Almeida, masters of contemporary engraving, Master Humberto Marçal (responsible for the engraving editions of the CPS), Cruzeiro Seixas, the most emblematic artist of Portuguese surrealism, José de Guimar´es, whose work (painting, sculpture, graphic work) has been recognized worldwide and Manuel Cargaleiro, exponent of international lyrical abstraction, among other renowned artists. rite, like, Luís Darocha, there is very based in Paris, Madalena Fonseca, Maria Tomás, Amélia Soares, Carlos Eirão, Isabel Rasquinho, João Ribeiro, Paula Lourenço, the Spanish artist Dolores Galvez and the young Saskia Moro and Teresa Pato. The exhibition also has a didactic sense, showing tools and various techniques for creating contemporary engraving, especially on metal – Etching, Aquatint, Dry Point, Mezzotint, Additive Techniques and Mixed Techniques. Editions like the ones we can appreciate today have been contributing to greater dissemination, and among a large public, of contemporary art, providing a high educational value. It is logical, insofar as they familiarize this same public, in their daily lives, with the plastic language of modernity, making it more available for their understanding and appreciation. The Portuguese Screen Printing Center created among us a new standard of enjoyment of art, which without denying the value of the unique work, rather exalting it in monotypes, produced a Museum in constant mutation and growth, an open collection capable of creating an unrepeatable intimacy with those who love it. The quality of the editions is excellent. ensured in the renovated CPS studio by the constant monitoring of the artists who authenticate the final result, by technicians of recognized talent who guarantee the precision of editions, recognized by the three-time award of the Pré ;mio Papies. The CPS has been the only entity in Portugal, invited and present since 1993 at the International Exhibition of Graphic Work: ESTAMPA, in Madrid. It began its activities in 1985, with the edition of a silkscreen by master Cargaleiro and currently has a notable collection of silkscreen and engraving editions that combines the works of art. ne some of the most notable names on the Portuguese artistic scene today. From the great Masters of the 20th century to young emerging artists, including emblematic movements such as neo-realism and surrealism and, on an international level, Pop Art, New Figuration and the broad lines of abstraction In a contemporary style, the Portuguese Screen Printing Centre, which recently celebrated twenty years of activity, has been creating a unique collection of around 1000 works, which is a unique collection of works. a true document of the art and culture of our days.
