Saskia Moro

Born in London, in 1967, to a Dutch mother and a Portuguese father. 

He began his studies in 1986 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Madrid, finishing his doctorate in 1993. Forms the C.H.A.P.A.S Collective. and in 1991 he participated in the XXI São Paulo International Biennial in Brazil. She received a scholarship from the ‘Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró’ in Mallorca in 1995 and 1996, where he received training courses in graphic arts and photography.

And it has been awarded several awards: XIV Máximo Ramos Award (2nd prize), El Ferrol; III Deutsche Stiftung Prize (accessit), Madrid; X Grabado 2002 Nationales Awards (Pr & Eacute; Best artist of ‘Tentaciones’ de Estampa 2004, ‘Asociación madrileña de art critics’, Madrid; L. Pinto-Coelho Award for Young Visual Artist 2004, Forum dos Portugueses, Madrid. There are numerous publications about his work.

Since 1989 he has participated in several group exhibitions in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Brazil and India.

In 1995 he opened his first solo exhibition ‘Paintings, engravings and objects’ at the Instituto Cervantes in Lisbon. He usually exhibits in Lisbon (such as: 1998 ‘Tajo/Tejo’ Mãe d'Água, 2004 'Olhar além' CPS, 2009 'Terras de Azeite' and 2013‘Alem Mar’ Galeria Valbom, 2013&rsquo ;de sal y arena” CPS). In Madrid (as: 2001 ‘Mareas’ Galería Estiarte, 2013 ‘Distancia’ Galeria EGAM) and Amsterdam (as: 2008 'Landschappen van water en olijfolie' Galerie Clement). He also exhibited in Barcelona, Évora (2002 ‘À search for Time’ Teoartis Galeria E), Caceres (2003 ‘Tiempos de Silencio’ Sala El Brocense), Badajoz and Cádiz 

In 2004, José Saramago writes: “A word of admiration for Saskia Moro. Behind the dim constellations present in a painting in my house, we see the universal order of words. Reading is not necessary. Represented in public and private collections, such as the National Library, the Congreso de los Diputados in Madrid, the Museo del Grabado Contemporâneo in Marbella (Málaga), the Argentaria Banco Bilbao Vizcaya, Banco Santander Central Hispano in Spain, Fidelidade Insurance Company, Tranquilidade-Vida, Barclays Bank, Ordem dos Economistas in Lisbon and Pousadas de Portugal in Leiria.
