Pedro Machado Costa

Pedro Machado Costa (Lourenço Marques, 1972) is Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto(1996), and Master from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon (2004). His academic training also included the Bounkunde Technische Universiteit Delft and the Ecole d’Architecture Paris-Conflans. Attends the PhD in Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories at ISCTE-IUL, since 2011.

Since 1997 it has been coordinator of a.s* - atelier de santos, where he develops work in the area of architecture. His work has been published in numerous conferences and publications in the field of architecture, in countries such as Japan, Korea, United States, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Germany , Argentina, Chile, France, among others.

He participated, as an author, in several international architecture exhibitions, notably the Venice Architecture Biennale or the Ibero-American Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, having exhibited at theInstitut Valenciá d’Art Modern, at the Hartell Gallery (Ithaca, NY), at the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum(Rotterdam) or at the Architectural Association (London), among others. His work has been recognized by several awards, including nominations for the Mies van der Rohe Prize and the Secil Prize. He was a finalist in the FAD Awards and won the Arquitectura Award dels Sócis d’Arquinfad in 2007. He develops work in the area of architectural dissemination and curation, having been curator of the exhibitions L’Alatante, or A Casa Portuguesa.

He regularly contributes to architecture and urban culture magazines and books. He was director of PARQ – Department of Architecture and Landscape at the Vasco da Gama University School (Coimbra) between 2010 and 2012, developing teaching work in the area of Architecture Project at the same institution. É guest professor at ESAyT – Escuela Superior de Arquitectura y Tecnologias (Madrid) since 2010 and professor of Project in the Department of Architecture at ISCTE-IUL. He has published 11 articles in specialized magazines, has 5 book chapters and 1 book published. It has 165 technical production items. Participated in 8 events abroad and 34 in Portugal. Supervised 5 master's theses in the area of Arts. Received 9 awards and/or honors. Works in the area of Humanities with an emphasis on Arts.

In his professional activities, he interacted with 7 collaborators in co-authoring scientific works.
